To verify your address, we need adhere to strict "Know Your Customer" (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations. The accepted documents generally fall into below categories based on reliability.
Here is a comprehensive list of accepted forms of evidence for address verification by our bank, categorized by document type.
1. Utility Bills
These are the standard "gold" level proofs because they prove services are being supplied to a physical location. Please try to provide one of those, if possible.
Electricity bill
Gas bill
Water bill
Landline telephone bill (Note: Mobile phone bills are frequently rejected because billing addresses for mobiles are easily changed or e-billed without physical verification).
Broadband/Internet provider bill
Cable/Satellite TV bill
Timeframe: Usually must be dated within the last 3 months.
2. Financial Documents
Documents from other regulated financial institutions are also accepted.
Bank Statement: From a different bank or building society.
Credit Card Statement.
Mortgage Statement: (Usually accepted if dated within the last 12 months).
Letter from a Bank: Confirming the account relationship and address.
Note: You are usually allowed to blank out financial transaction details (balances/spending), provided the Bank Letterhead, Your Name, Date, and Address remain clearly visible.
3. Government & Tax Correspondence
These are highly trusted because they are issued by official bodies.
Tax Demand/Statement: (e.g., Council Tax bill in the UK, IRS letter in the US, Revenue letter in Ireland). Usually valid for the current fiscal year.
Electoral Register Letter: Confirmation of voter registration.
Government Benefits Agency Letter: Proof of pension, unemployment benefits, or disability allowance.
Valid Driver’s License: Conditional Usage—If you used your passport as your Photo ID, many banks allow you to use your driver's license as Proof of Address. However, you generally cannot use the same document for both ID and Address verification.
4. Housing & Insurance Documents
Current Tenancy/Rental Agreement: Must usually be generated by a recognized letting agency or solicitor (private handwritten agreements are often rejected).
Home/Contents Insurance Certificate: Must be for the current policy year.
Solicitor’s Letter: Confirming a recent house purchase (often used by new homeowners who haven't received bills yet).
5. Exceptions (Students & New Residents)
If you are a student or new to the country, standard bills may not be available. We often accept below (although please try to submit one of the above for faster processing and approval):
University/College Letter: An official acceptance letter or enrollment confirmation issued by the university registrar, stating the student's term-time address.
Student Loan Company Letter.
Employer Letter: A formal letter on company letterhead confirming employment and residence (often used for expats moving for work).
Host/Parent Letter: In rare cases (often for minors or specialized accounts), a bank may accept a letter from a parent or host, provided the parent/host provides their own solid proof of address.
